코 성형 부위는 크게 5가지로 나눌 수 있습니다. 가장 많이 진행하는 콧대와 코 끝은 코의 높이를 조정해 수술을 진행합니다. 콧대는 높이거나 낮추는 것 이외에도 메부리코를 깎아 곧은 콧대로 교정하고, 휜 코도 똑바르게 교정할 수 있습니다. 코 끝은 높이거나 낮추는 것 외에도 연골이 벌어져 있는 코 끝을 좁히거나 반대로 넓히기도 합니다. 이외에도 콧구멍의 대칭을 맞추거나 비주(콧구멍 사이 중간 벽)를 집어넣는 수술을 진행하기도 합니다.

코 수술 방식 중 어떤 방법을 선택해야 하나요?

코 성형 방법에는 크게 2 가지 방법이 있습니다. 코 안쪽을 절개하는 방법과, 비주 중간을 잘라 코뼈를 개방해 진행하는 방법이 있는데, 방법마다 장, 단점이 있으므로 어떤 코를 갖고 싶은지에 따라 선택하는 것이 좋습니다. 

흉터가 남지 않는 무흉터 코 성형

코 안쪽을 절개하는 방법은 외관상으로 흉터가 남지 않아 무흉터 코 성형으로 주로 불립니다. 상처가 남지 않는 것은 성형에 있어 큰 장점이지만, 시야가 좁고 일부분만 수술이 가능해 실리콘을 집어넣어 콧대를 세우는 수술 등에서 활용할 수 있습니다.

다양한 코 수술을 할 수 있는 개방형 코 성형

비주를 잘라 코 구조물을 드러내 수술하는 개방형 코 수술은 비주에 흉터가 남기는 하지만, 구조물을 직접 볼 수 있어 다양한 수술을 할 수 있습니다. 비주를 자를 때에는 비주 중간을 자르는 것 보다는 인중과 가까운 부위를 자르는 것이 좋습니다. 많은 성형외과 전문의가 비주 중간을 절개하는 이유는, 대부분 성형 기법과 교과서가 서양인을 대상으로 만들어져서입니다. 코가 높은 서양인은 비주 끝 부분을 자르면 피부가 괴사하고 당김 현상이 있을 수 있어 중간을 자르지만, 동양인은 그렇지 않으므로 비주 끝 부분을 절개해 수술하면 수술 후에도 상처가 거의 보이지 않게 됩니다.
  

코 수술에서 주의해야 할 점은 무엇이 있나요?

코 수술에 있어 가장 주의해야할 점은 바로 ‘재수술’입니다. 코 성형은 의사가 아무리 뛰어난 실력을 갖고 있어도 부작용이 생길 수 있습니다. 또한, 부작용은 바로 생길 수도 있지만, 10년이 지난 후에도 부작용이 생길 수 있습니다. 대표적인 코 성형 부작용은 2가지가 있습니다.

모양이 변형되는 ‘구형구축’

구형 구축은 실리콘 등의 이물질이 들어가 있으면서 생기는 부작용으로, 크게 △코모양이 휘어 보이는 등 변형되거나 △세운 코끝이 낮아지는 등의 부작용이 나타날 수 있습니다. 처음에 보형물을 넣을 때는 제대로 세워져 있다가 시간이 지나면서 보형물이 내려와 코 끝이 낮아질 수 있습니다. 이런 경우, 보형물을 제거한 후 다시 삽입하는 등의 재수술이 필요합니다. 이외에도 보형물이 보이는 것처럼 보일 수 있는데, 이는 보형물이 코의 크기와 맞지 않아 생기는 경우가 대부분으로, 숙련된 성형외과 전문의에게 정확한 크기로 보형물을 카빙해 삽입하면 괜찮아집니다.

보형물 주변에 염증이 생기는 무균성 염증
